What Level Of Ul94 Should The Flame Retardant Rating Of Rural Lighting Ready Boards In Africa Reach? How Many Degrees Celsius Should The Temperature Resistance Value Not Be Lower Than?
UL94 flame retardant rating+temperature resistance standard for outdoor lighting ready boards in rural Africa
1、 UL94 flame retardant mandatory requirement: UL94 V-0 (1.5mm thickness meets standard)
Selection criteria (high temperature outdoor environment in Africa, with many flammable materials such as thatch/wood)
safety bottom line
V-2 is allowed to melt droplets with fire. In rural Africa, there are many straw, wooden houses, and plastic films around the box, which can easily ignite fires. The use of V-2 is strictly prohibited;
V-1 has no ignition droplets, but the upper limit of self extinguishing time is 30 seconds. There is a high risk of heat accumulation in a tropical sealed box, and it can only be used indoors;
The unified requirements for the shell and internal insulation of outdoor rural Ready Board Box are UL94 V-0: two 10 second ignitions, single combustion ≤ 10 seconds, no fire droplets, no ignition of combustible materials below, and the lowest risk of fire spread.
Mainstream shell material verification
Specially modified PC/ABS, UV resistant polycarbonate PC, and fiberglass flame-retardant PA66 can all achieve UL94 V-0 @ 1.5mm stability, and are compatible with box body designs with a wall thickness of ≥ 3mm, meeting the requirements of African sand and dust and exposure conditions.
2、 Temperature resistance index (divided into 3 key temperature groups, all of which are the lowest limit values)
1. The shell material is heat-resistant for long-term continuous use (heat deformation HDT/long-term working temperature)
Minimum standard: ≥ 100 ℃ (PC/ABS alloy conventional 112~142 ℃)
Preferred high-end: Pure UV resistant PC shell with long-term temperature resistance * * ≥ 120 ℃ * *, can withstand the accumulation of heat inside the African noon box at 55-65 ℃+component temperature rise, without softening, deformation, or warping.
2. Maximum allowable ambient temperature inside the box (component working standard)
General component tolerance lower limit:+70 ℃ (upper limit of ambient temperature)
Design redundant logic: The outdoor extreme environment temperature in Africa can reach 50 ℃, with a temperature rise of 25-35K inside the box. The upper limit of 70 ℃ ensures that the circuit breaker, leakage protection, and terminals do not trip or accelerate aging.
3. Short term limit/Vicat softening safety threshold
Vicat softening point * * ≥ 110 ℃ * *, to prevent the melting of the shell at high temperatures due to local short circuits caused by faults;
Low temperature tolerance synchronous requirement ≥ -25 ℃, suitable for the large temperature difference between day and night in Africa.
3、 Summary of complete sets of standards for industry exports to Africa (direct reference for procurement/inspection)
Flame retardant: shell, insulation bracket, wiring base UL94 V-0 (1.5mm), V1/V2/HB not accepted;
Long term temperature resistance of the shell: not less than 100 ℃, recommended for high temperature and heavy load projects ≥ 120 ℃;
The maximum working environment temperature of the components inside the box: not less than 70 ℃;
Additional requirements: UV anti-aging modification, wall thickness ≥ 3mm, IK10 impact resistance, dustproof and waterproof above IP65 are added to the material.
