Is insulation isolation required between the grounding strip and the outer shell of the lighting electrical ready board in rural Africa

African rural lighting electrical ready boards comply with IEC and Eskom low-voltage distribution specifications. The PE protective grounding busbar (grounding busbar) does not need to be insulated and isolated from the metal box casing, and the two must be reliably electrically connected; Only neutral N rows are required to be insulated from the enclosure.

The PE grounding busbar is the grounding junction point for the whole machine protection. The metal shell of the lighting electrical Ready Board Box, the box door, and the metal shell of the internal components must all be connected to the PE busbar to form equipotential protection. When a phase line collision occurs in the circuit, the fault current can be quickly discharged through the PE discharge, triggering the protection device to trip and reducing the risk of electric shock for rural users. The rural environment in Africa is characterized by high temperature and humidity, as well as large amounts of sand and dust, which poses a high risk of rusting of the box body. The grounding strip and lighting electrical ready board body are directly overlapped with bolts, and the contact surface is stripped of the spray layer. Anti loosening washers are used to ensure low resistance conductivity and improve grounding reliability.

Attention should be paid to distinguishing between N rows and PE rows. Neutral N-row carries normal working current and must be isolated from the box with insulation supports. It is strictly prohibited to connect it with the box shell, otherwise it may cause misoperation and potential drift of the leakage protector. When installing the PE busbar, insulated support columns can be used as physical supports, only for fixing and leaving space for wiring operations. Electrical isolation cannot be done, and reliable grounding connection points must be reserved to connect the PE busbar to the box.

This solution is suitable for harsh outdoor rural conditions in Africa, taking into account lightning protection and electric shock prevention requirements, and facilitating on-site grounding continuity testing. If the PE busbar is completely insulated from the box by mistake, the box will lose its protective grounding. Once there is leakage, the metal shell will carry dangerous voltage, which can easily cause electric shock accidents and does not meet the local distribution acceptance standards.
