Rural Electrical Ready Board Lightning Protection Upgrade: "dual Insurance" Design Of Grounding Wire And Lightning Arrester

In rural areas, lightning protection of electrical ready boards is crucial, and the "double insurance" design of grounding wires and lightning arresters is the key to ensuring their safe operation.

In terms of grounding wire, suitable materials should be selected. For galvanized angle steel, the specifications can be selected as 50mm × 50mm × 5mm, with a length of about 2.5 meters; Or galvanized steel pipe, with a diameter of about 50mm and a length of about 2.5 meters. Dig a pit with a depth of about 0.8-1 meters, place the grounding electrode vertically, and drive it into the ground with a hammer. The top should be about 0.6-0.8 meters above the ground to ensure close contact with the soil. The grounding busbar is usually made of 40mm × 4mm galvanized flat steel, one end of which is firmly welded to the grounding electrode, and after anti-corrosion treatment, it is led out of the ground, laid along the wall base and other suitable positions, and connected to the grounding terminal of the indoor electrical ready board. The grounding resistance should meet the standard, and when the distribution capacity is ≥ 100kVA, the grounding resistance should be ≤ 4 Ω; When the distribution capacity is less than 100kVA, the grounding resistance should be ≤ 10 Ω. If the resistance value is too high, resistance reducing agents can be added or the number of grounding electrodes can be increased.

The installation of lightning arresters cannot be ignored. In areas with active lightning, a set of low-voltage lightning arresters should be installed between the high-voltage fuse and the transformer, and the shorter the grounding lead, the better. Low voltage lightning arresters should also be installed at the low-voltage side outlet of transformers to reduce the voltage borne by the low-voltage coils. FS10 valve type lightning arrester is generally used on the 10kV high voltage side of rural distribution transformers. Its structure consists of gap elements and valve type resistors. When the lightning voltage exceeds a certain value, it can smoothly discharge the lightning current and limit the current passing through.

The grounding wire and lightning arrester cooperate with each other to form a "double insurance". The grounding wire provides a discharge channel for lightning current and reduces equipment potential; Lightning arresters directly limit overvoltage and protect equipment from lightning damage. Through this "dual insurance" design, the lightning protection capability of rural electrical ready boards can be effectively improved, ensuring the safe and stable operation of rural power systems.
