How to determine if the meter box still works?

To determine whether the meter box can still work, the following steps can be taken:

Check the meter reading: First, observe whether the reading on the meter changes normally. If the reading remains unchanged for a long time or displays abnormally, it may indicate that there is a problem with the meter.

Observe the status of the circuit breaker: Check if the circuit breaker inside the meter box has tripped. If the circuit breaker is in a tripped state, it may be caused by circuit overload, short circuit, or other reasons. At this time, it is necessary to check and eliminate the fault before attempting to close it.

Check the condition of the wires: Observe whether the wires inside the meter box are damaged, aged, or abnormally heated. If there are these issues with the wires, it may pose a safety hazard and require timely replacement or repair.

Test pulse indicator light: For electronic meters with pulse indicator lights, you can try cutting off the main switch of the distribution box or unplugging all electrical appliances in the house and observing the flashing of the pulse indicator light. If the indicator light does not flash for a long time or flashes abnormally, it may indicate that there is a problem with the electricity meter.

Compare power consumption: Turn off all electrical appliances in the home, record the reading on the electricity meter, then turn on a certain appliance (such as an electric water heater or induction cooker) for a period of time and turn it off, and then record the reading on the electricity meter again. By comparing the actual electricity consumption with the recorded electricity on the meter, the accuracy of the meter measurement can be determined.

If any problems are found in the above steps, it is recommended to promptly contact professional power maintenance personnel for inspection and repair to ensure that the meter box can work properly and ensure electrical safety.
