Selection Instructions for Insulation Layer of Wires in African Rural Lighting Ready Board Box.

Considering the high temperature, strong ultraviolet radiation, and outdoor/semi outdoor installation environment in rural Africa, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation material is preferred for the interior and incoming and outgoing wires of lighting ready boards, and weather resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC-W) is used for outdoor exposed sections. The use of ordinary PVC insulated wires is strictly prohibited.

The daytime temperature in Africa often exceeds 45 ℃, coupled with long-term direct exposure to strong ultraviolet rays, ordinary PVC is prone to hardening, cracking, powdering, and insulation failure, greatly shortening the service life of the line. Cross linked polyethylene has excellent high temperature resistance, with a long-term allowable working temperature of up to 90 ℃. It has strong thermal stability and can adapt to local continuous high temperature conditions. Its molecular structure has been cross-linked and modified, with outstanding anti-aging and UV resistance, which can resist the molecular damage of UV to the insulation layer, and is not prone to brittle cracking, fading, and leakage hazards.

For the incoming and outgoing wires of the ready board and the exposed wires outside the wall, weather resistant PVC-W material is selected, and anti UV additives are added while retaining insulation performance. It is resistant to sunlight and alternating high and low temperatures, and is suitable for complex outdoor environments.

The two materials have high insulation strength and good mechanical toughness, and can withstand rural dust and slight bumps, making them suitable for small wiring spaces in ready boards. The overall selection takes into account the three core requirements of high temperature resistance, UV resistance, and aging resistance, reducing the risk of line faults, short circuits, and leakage, and meeting the long-term maintenance free usage requirements in rural Africa, ensuring the stable operation of the lighting system.
