Desert Sand Prevention Inlet: "sand And Dust Filtration" Technology For Lighting Electrical Ready Boards In North Africa
In the desert regions of North Africa, sandstorms pose a serious threat to the stable operation of outdoor lighting electrical ready boards. To address this issue, the local electrical ready board design incorporates innovative "sand and dust filtration" technology, with the core of building a multi-level protection system that balances filtration efficiency and operational convenience.
The multi-level filtering structure is the technical core. The inlet of the electrical ready board adopts a three-stage filtration system of "primary effect metal mesh+medium effect glass fiber+high-efficiency PTFE coating": the primary effect layer intercepts coarse gravel with a particle size greater than 100 μ m to prevent large particles from hitting and damaging the equipment; The medium efficiency layer is designed for 10-100 μ m fine sand, with a filtration efficiency of 85%; The high-efficiency layer intercepts clay particles larger than 1 μ m through PTFE hydrophobic membrane, with a filtration efficiency of over 99%, while avoiding condensation water blockage. This gradient design extends the lifespan of the filter material, and the replacement cycle of the filter element in desert environments has been extended from the usual 3 months to 12 months.
The upgraded sealing structure blocks sand and dust from a physical perspective. The inlet adopts a composite sealing ring of fluororubber and metal skeleton, with the metal skeleton providing rigid support to prevent high-temperature deformation; The contact area of the fluororubber lip seal is expanded by three times, effectively preventing sand and dust from infiltrating from the joint surface. The shaft end seal adopts a combination of "maze type+contact type". The maze structure dampens the airflow through multiple annular gaps, and the contact type PTFE sealing ring is tightly attached to the cable, ensuring sealing performance without affecting cable flexibility.
In practical applications, this technology reduces the accumulation of sand and dust inside the electrical ready board by more than 90%, significantly reduces equipment failure rates, and lowers operation and maintenance costs. This technology is not only applicable to North Africa, but also provides replicable solutions for other desert regions in Central Asia and Africa.
